The film stars singer and actress Halle Bailey (“grown-ish”) as Ariel Jonah Hauer-King (“A Dog’s Way Home”) as Prince Eric Tony Award® winner Daveed Diggs (“Hamilton”) as the voice of Sebastian Awkwafina (“Raya and the Last Dragon”) as the voice of Scuttle Jacob Tremblay (“Luca”) as the voice of Flounder Noma Dumezweni (“Mary Poppins Returns”) as Queen Selina Art Malik (“Homeland”) as Sir Grimsby with Oscar® winner Javier Bardem (“No Country for Old Men”) as King Triton and two-time Academy Award® nominee Melissa McCarthy (“Can You Ever Forgive Me?” “Bridesmaids”) as Ursula. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea and, while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. ![]() “The Little Mermaid” is the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. Whether or not it gets a shot in the arm performance-wise, I can easily see myself zoning out to it and missing my stop on the train. Its elegant, immediately addicting score-based gameplay translates well to the small screen, almost as if it should have been there all along. That aside, Resogun is the kind of game that feels right at home on Vita. That could very well change though, as it has in the past with Vita games as they optimize them closer to launch. Resogun is one of those games that “feels” a certain way, and that fluidity is somewhat disrupted here, with what seems to be a sub-30 framerate at all times. It goes without saying that some technical concession had to be made to get Resogun, one of PS4's prettiest games, onto the Vita, and while the toned down effects and fuzzier look aren't a big deal, getting used to the lower speed is tough at first. This makes boosting and tossing humans long distances a snap easier in fact than on the PS4 version. The controls carry over beautifully too, with the bomb and throw functions being mapped to face buttons, while boost and overdrive remain on the shoulder buttons. If you've practiced a specific stage on a specific difficulty level until your fingers are numb (like I have) then you can jump right into the Vita version and put up the same scores. That’s Tiki Kiwi up at the top of this post, from our friend Tikipod.Play I was just playing Resogun on PS4 a couple of nights ago, remembering all the old timings, and I can attest that the Vita version is the exact same game. Nick and I had a look through the ships available to download from other players. It’s really simple to use – you’re simply given a huge empty cube and a bunch of colours and left to fill it up however you like. Thanks to the new ship editor, players can now build their own ships out of voxels. ![]() There’s no boost, overdrive, or bombs and your only weapon is a proximity mine. ![]() I don’t know how this will affect things but they look extra cute now.ĭemolition Mode changes things completely – instead of being a ship, you control a wrecking ball. Survival is an endless mode with new scoring and a day/night cycle. This is all in preparation for a big update tomorrow for the Heroes DLC, which will add two new game modes: Survival and Demolition. ![]() Resogun went live with a big update this week, adding local co-op, a ship editor and resetting the leaderboards after patching some big exploits.
